Absolutely correct, average Americans have no brain, they are good followers of the two political poles in the country. They don’t even think to create the third one to end the monopoly of other twos. American should think seriously about the character of next president, enough of Clintons and Bushes.

In the USA, majority of people have been against Bush’s leadership and dominant presence of United States in the wars with Iraq and Afghanistan in past one decade. But they are not so much anti-war but protectionist and they have the mindset that the US shouldn’t solve all the problems with wars.

Voters in America have become confused this time. Hillary Clinton is popular among women voters and Barack Obama is popular among African-American community BUT there are several women who have voted for Barack Obama and similarly there are black voters who have voted in favor of Hillary Clinton.

We need change, The United States need a change. The word ‘change’ has become a keyword with regard to the race to White House. You can hear slogans in favor of Obama like - ‘We need change‘, ‘this country wants change‘, ‘I vote for a change‘. Lets see what happens, are we smart enough or not.

I have read in a blogpost in which Martin wrote about Obama as - “I feel sad having to expose Barack Obama’s truth, he is a complete fraud. He has lied to American people, and he has sought to misrepresent his own heritage. His life story is different from the one he portrays. If he will lie about his mother and father, how can he be honest to other people in the US?

Are Americans smart enough to pick their President? I think it is a nonsensical question. This is the very essence of democracy - and there are no absolutes in democracy. In any given democracy, picking up a person to head the government for 4-5 years is a thing of trust.

As Peter Drucker used to say about making de4cisions in management: ” It is not about being right or wrong. It is about making the best judgment with the available data on hand.”

That was about business. The aver4age voter, in any country has less information than the average bus9iness executive.

My point: do not diss the American voter. Diss the system .

I agree with the Peter Drucker quote and would like to add that the first [past the post system to elect the winning candidate is not an accurate reflective o0f the wishes of the government.

In the US presidential elections, even of a candidate wins a state by 1 vote he/she gets all the electoral college vote for that state - unfair, huh?

I too will say: Do not blame it on the voter.

It is indeed odd that the people whop vote do not waste their time in online forums debating, commenting, ranting...

People who vote go out, canvass other like-minded people and vote. Why blame the poor voter, man?

How many frienjds does the writer of this anti-voter post have, who are ready to put their money where their mouth is and will go out and vote for their candidate?

The average voter in any country, from India top America votes with their hear, not their brains and this is not something I just made up. The politicians know this and that is why you have guys like Obama, all shine and no substance, who come up with cool slogans (”yes, we can) and have nothing concrete to say about the tanking U.S. economy.

This is democracy and it is all about the Image, folks.

Image sells, my online ranting friends, and the voter pays for his/her folly after the votes have been cast.

A better headline for the story should have been, “Are politicians dumb enough to say the truth to the voters?”

Choosing a candidate who will make important decisions on your behalf is a very delicate and uncertain science and the average voter does have the information, to make the choice.

I am an Indian and I am still amazed by the goons we are able to send to the legislatures and the Parliament, based on our bias for caste, religion, etc.

I am also amazed that I have never voted so far. Go figure.

Wow, man! This so-called web 2.0 thing is sure jazzing things up! Back in 2000, when Gore ran and the Florida guys cheated him, I remember reading that the average American was not that interested in politics.

The conservatives took advantage and snatched the White House, The rest, as they say, is history.

Today, with every Tom, Dick, Jane and Harry having her/his own blog (or, in this case, a place to comment) we are all getting too righteous, picking sides, making snide remarks with impunity....

Good question! What is an average American for you or for me? Americans who choose their leaders because of local politics, sometimes petty politics based on race, local issues and often on glamour. For example George Bush could defeat Al Gore because he was considered to be more glamourous than Gore who was way ahead of him in foreign policy matters etc. This dumb attitude of the Americans has had a telling effect on other nations because America is the number one military and economic power in the world that considers all the world affairs as its own.

The sad thing today is that though Hillary Clinton is better than Barack Obama in her first hand experiences with issues around the globe Obama is getting more votes because he seems to be more media savvy and has the right words at the tip of his lips.

the IQ levels of americans are extreme. some have the world’s best minds and some of the dumbest. the middle range americans are totally oblivious to what is happening around the world and indifferent towards their own domestic politicians. no wonder they don’t come out in large nos to vote. they are incapable voting constructively. during the 60s and 70s they showed some political awareness both domestic and foreign but this is a hopeless situation now.

If they were not smart how on earth America had so many smart presidents? America had Sci-Fi inspired presidents, theater inspired ones too. There were visionaries and evangelists in the roll of honor. They even had elected a president who conversed with God directly who directed him to end tyranny in Iraq. The average American is indeed a very smart species of the human race.
